Watermist In Action

Suppression that protects the rack — without destroying it.

High-pressure watermist atomised at 60–200 bar: the same fire-control performance as a sprinkler discharge using a fraction of the water, with droplets fine enough to evaporate on hot surfaces rather than soak the equipment.

Fogtec watermist demonstration: flame extinguished in seconds with negligible water damage to surrounding equipment.

Classification

Class I water mist per NFPA 750.

Fogtec uses water mist of Class I according to NFPA 750—the smallest droplet-size distribution and the largest reaction surface per litre of water applied. Fogtec systems are of the high-pressure type, working at 50–200 bar. The high pressure provides at the nozzle sufficient energy to split water into the smallest droplets and to accelerate them on their way towards the fire and against rising heat and smoke.

Why High Pressure?

Pure physics: more energy, finer droplets.

Higher pressure means more energy available to split the water and more momentum imparted to the resulting tiny droplets. Lower the pressure and the droplets are larger, or have less momentum—in most cases both apply.

Independent research has shown that low-pressure water mist systems are less efficient at reducing the heat-release rate of a fire and its emissions, including CO2, CO, NOX, CxHy and HCN.

Pump Systems

Modular pump units, 25–1000 l/min.

Fogtec pump systems generate operating pressures between 120 and 140 bar; lower pressures would yield larger droplets or insufficient momentum to reach the fire (law of energy conservation). Pump units are built from individual pump modules with flow rates from 25 to 1000 l/min, so the overall flow and power can be optimised to each project. Units run electrically or on diesel, include adequate water filtration, and control cabinets equipped with state-of-the-art PLC controls connect to the fire alarm system. Remote maintenance via modem is available as an option.

Honeywell Gent: fire detection

Gent Vigilon Plus addressable fire detection with S-Quad multi-sensors, to BS 5839-1 and BS EN 54. Gent Self-Test detectors run the full BS 5839 annual functional test automatically (using real smoke and heat) and report via the Honeywell CLSS cloud platform. BLE-verified engineers swipe through a full site's compliance records without a single in-hall disruption.

VESDA-E: very early warning ASD

The benchmark aspirating smoke detection for mission-critical infrastructure. Up to 15× higher sensitivity than point detection, with Flair discrimination to reject HVAC-borne dust, diesel exhaust and soot, with no trade-off between very early warning and nuisance alarms. Rated for hot-aisle / cold-aisle containment and high-airflow halls.

Milestone XProtect: open VMS

A true open-platform VMS, a single source of truth across 10,000+ supported devices and 500,000+ installations worldwide. XProtect Corporate holds EuroPriSe GDPR certification; Milestone Care provides lifetime software maintenance. The right platform when you refuse vendor lock-in on a twenty-year asset.

Fogtec: watermist suppression

High-pressure watermist for server halls, battery rooms and technical spaces, atomised at 60–200 bar into 50–100 µm droplets that cool and scrub smoke using a fraction of the water of a sprinkler. Tested to BS EN 14972, with LPCB-approved components and designed in line with RISCAuthority guidance; ordinary-hazard coverage up to 12 m ceilings.

Classified as Class I water mist per NFPA 750—the finest droplet distribution available—with nozzle inserts that allow spray pattern, flow rate and droplet distribution to be tuned to the hazard. Open-nozzle deluge systems trigger from the fire alarm; automatic glass-bulb nozzles run wet, pre-action or dry-pipe pressurised configurations.

Axis Camera Station Secure Entry

Unified access control for every door in the facility: smart cards, PINs, mobile credentials and facial recognition, with anti-tailgating and multi-factor layers. Managed from the same Axis Camera Station Pro console as the CCTV, to BS EN 60839-11. SSAIB-certified installation throughout.

Frequently asked questions

Why VESDA aspirating detection rather than point detectors in a server hall?
Aspirating smoke detection draws air continuously through capillary tubing and detects smoke up to 15× earlier than a conventional point detector — vital in a hot-aisle / cold-aisle hall where airflow disperses smoke before it reaches a ceiling head. Flair discrimination rejects HVAC-borne dust and diesel exhaust, so you don't pay for that sensitivity in false alarms. Designed to BS 5839-1 (Cat L1) and BS EN 54.
Watermist or gaseous suppression?
Both have a role. Watermist (BS EN 14972) cools and scrubs smoke at a fraction of the water of conventional sprinklers, with droplets fine enough that operational electronics typically survive. Gaseous (e.g. inert-gas) suppression is sealed-room-only and has finite hold times. We design the right combination for the hall, the technical spaces, the battery rooms and the generator yard, all around BS EN 14972 and LPCB / RISCAuthority guidance.
Do you handle access control alongside CCTV?
Yes — Axis Camera Station Secure Entry runs CCTV and access control on a single console, BS EN 62676 for video and BS EN 60839-11 for access. Card, PIN, mobile credential and facial recognition, with anti-tailgating layers. SSAIB-certified installation throughout.
Are you cleared for hyperscale and campus environments?
Yes. We deliver to operator-side standards (NDAs, security vetting, escorted access where required), with named on-site engineers, full as-built documentation, audit-ready records, and Honeywell CLSS for ongoing compliance testing without taking halls offline.
Do you deliver UPS / critical-power as well?
Yes — UPS sizing, install and maintenance for the loads that can't afford a single dropout. Continuous monitoring is integrated with the wider fire / security / BMS visibility, so the operator has one accountable contractor across the disciplines that share a panel room.
