Rail & Transport  ·  Critical Infrastructure

Built for the rail network.

Trackside, in-station and depot fire and security, delivered to railway standards on live operational infrastructure.

Rail-Ready

Built for rail.
Proven on the network.

From Network Rail infrastructure to depots and major passenger stations, we deliver fire protection, security and communications engineered for the demands of rail.

Every system designed and installed by engineers with the accreditations to work on the UK network, and the experience to know how rail projects actually run.

Our Expertise

Engineered for safety-critical rail.

Our engineers hold the accreditations and experience to work trackside, in stations and across depots: Sentinel-sponsored on Network Rail, RISQS-verified on live operational infrastructure.

RISQS · CIRAS

Rail-accredited engineers

RISQS-verified, CIRAS members and Sentinel-sponsored for trackside work: trusted on Network Rail infrastructure, station upgrades and live operational environments across the UK.

BS 5839-1

Aspirating detection

High-sensitivity VESDA-class aspirating detection for stations, depots, stabling sheds, plant rooms and wash plants, covering voids and high-airflow zones point detection can't.

Fogtec

Fuelling & suppression

Fogtec watermist suppression for diesel fuelling points, lube stores and traction equipment—optimum droplet spectrum from high-pressure operation between 50 and 200 bar, water-efficient and depot-compatible.

PAVA

Public address & voice alarm

Full Public Address / Voice Alarm (PAVA) systems to BS 5839-8 and BS EN 54-16: concourses, platforms, depots and passenger buildings, with general PA paging and emergency evacuation on one backbone.

Axis · Milestone

Depot perimeter & gate

Thermal perimeter cameras, ANPR-based gate control and access integration with the BMS, managed through Axis Camera Station Pro or Milestone XProtect.

Live Working

Possessions & isolations

Method-statement led delivery on live passenger and operational infrastructure: possessions, isolations and out-of-hours working as standard.

Our Approach

Designed around rail delivery.
Three stages. One partner.

Possessions, isolations, live running: rail has its own tempo. We work to it, every time.

01    Inception

Early engagement. Better outcomes.

We engage at the earliest stage to de-risk projects, influence design decisions and embed fire and security requirements from the ground up.

Frequently asked questions

Are you RISQS-verified?
Yes. Photuris is RISQS-verified and a CIRAS member — the supply-chain qualification scheme used across the GB rail industry. Our trackside engineers hold Sentinel sponsorship and the relevant PTS certifications. We work routinely on Network Rail infrastructure, train-operator depots and the wider rail estate.
Can you work in possessions and during isolations?
Yes. We're used to delivering inside a rail tempo — planned possessions, mid-week isolations, weekend blockades, and live-running where the work is compatible with operations. Method statements, RAMS and isolation plans land with the principal contractor on time, every time.
What standards apply for fire and security at a station?
BS 5839-1 for addressable detection, BS 5839-8 for voice alarm and evacuation, BS EN 54-16 for the voice-alarm control equipment, BS EN 62676 for CCTV, BS EN 60839-11 for access control. On Network Rail-managed assets, the relevant NR standards apply on top.
Can you handle aspirating very-early-warning detection in tunnels and concourses?
Yes. Aspirating smoke detection is the right answer for high-airflow concourses, vent shafts and tunnels where stratification defeats point detection. We design and commission to BS 5839-1 with the relevant NR standards layered on for trackside applications.
Do you cover stations and depots, or just one?
Both. Stations, ticket halls, retail concourses and the back-of-house plant rooms; depots, stabling yards, washplants and maintenance roads; trackside fire / security infrastructure where required. One accredited supply chain across the lot.
