Working Around Education

Term-time service.
Summer works programme.

Education runs on a calendar, and our service plans respect it. We front-load disruptive work to holidays, run silent testing in term time, and carry the records your Responsible Person and fire authority will ask for.

Honeywell Gent

Gent Self-Test detectors

Every detector carries a paraffin-wax smoke module and a heat element. The BS 5839 annual functional test is launched remotely through the Honeywell CLSS app: no engineer in the classroom, no lost lesson time.

BS 5266

Emergency lighting

Corridor, stairwell and refuge lighting to BS 5266-1, inspected, tested and logged in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and Approved Document B.

Compliance

Documented service records

Risk assessments and fire strategies kept current. Every test, inspection and repair is logged so the Responsible Person has the records ready for any inspector.

Nationwide

Rapid response

Dedicated account managers per estate, term-time cover during the school day, rapid response for callouts and outages under an active service contract.

Built Around

Safeguarding.
Compliance. Continuity.

Safeguarding first

Integrated access control, lockdown alerts and CCTV designed around safeguarding policy, not the other way around.

Regulatory clarity

BS 5839 fire alarm (Honeywell Gent Vigilon + Self-Test), BS 5266 emergency lighting, disabled refuge: delivered with documentation your RP can present to any inspector.

Continuity of operation

Weekend and holiday works to minimise disruption to teaching, exam halls and residential life.

Partnership, not tickets

Named account managers who know your estate, your people and your priorities, not a call centre every time.

Frequently asked questions

How do you minimise disruption to teaching?
We front-load disruptive works to school holidays and weekends, and run silent testing in term-time. Honeywell Gent Self-Test detectors mean the BS 5839 annual functional test is launched remotely through the CLSS app, so an engineer doesn't need to walk the classrooms.
Which standards govern fire detection in schools and universities?
BS 5839-1 for the main building fire alarm, BS 5839-6 for residential parts (student accommodation, boarding houses), BS 5266-1 for emergency lighting, plus the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Approved Document B as the overarching legal and design framework.
Do you integrate access control with safeguarding policy?
Yes. Access control is designed around the school's safeguarding policy, not the other way around. We integrate door-by-door zoning, lockdown alerting, visitor management and CCTV review on a single platform, with lockdown sequences agreed with the Designated Safeguarding Lead before commissioning.
Can you work across MAT estates with multiple campuses?
Yes. We deliver standardised systems across Multi-Academy Trust portfolios — same Honeywell Gent panel range, same Self-Test maintenance pathway, single named account manager — so the trust's estates team has one consistent record across every school.
How quickly do you respond to a callout?
Customers on an active service contract get rapid response from our Sheffield and Hull bases, with named on-call engineers and fully-fitted vans dispatched directly. The 24/7 emergency line is 0800 368 8202.
